les Ateliers: Ouaga 2050

Les Ateliers – international workshops of planning and urban design – is a non-profit organization aiming at developing the collective creation of ideas that tackle the challenges and processes of everyday city planning and design. For 30 years, they have been organizing workshops allowing to bring a fresh look on urban issues, to vary scales, to forget administrative boundaries, to rethink territories. And in 2019, the workshop in Ouaga is held!! And Michaeala Solnická Volná was selected to participate. What an honour and responsibility!

Friday 1st March 2019, 18 participants from all over the world arrived in Ouagadougou for two intensive weeks of team workshops on the theme:

OUAGADOUGOU 2050, Living the daily life in the Greater Territory

The workshop started with four days of visits and conferences to discover the territory and share the issues identified during the preparatory phase. On the program: discovery of Ouagadougou and the project area around Tanghin, visits of local authorities …

Tuesday 5th March – the official opening, in the presence of Mr. The Minister of Urban Planning, Housing and Housing , the Mayor of Ouagadougou and the partners of the Ateliers, allowed everyone to understand the issues and questions of the workshop.

Then the participants got divided into three teams, to work on their proposals. On Friday, March 15th they presented the restitution of the works Ouagadougou 2050 at the Town Hall.
